Best Hockey series in my life time. Simon Gagne should leave a lasting impact on most of us.

God, remember when Lucic was a good player?

Some of the best days i can remember came during that playoff run, and I was in grad school at Northeastern in Boston. Worked at a fridays just to make some cash while going to class, and those 4 wins, being in the heart of the enemy to watch, was just an experience ill never forget.

Who would have thought the simultaneous injury of David Krejci in game 3 (great check by Richie) combined with the return of Simon Gagne, would lead to the greatest comeback series in the history of the Flyers. Its funny when you look back and think of all the things that happened that allowed us to come back in thats series

Nobody said trade Patrick, everyone is saying push him back in the line up. It won’t hurt him but it doesn’t make sense if you haven’t found a nice compliment for him on the wing.

...from the last thread

No guess as to how it will all shake out with adding a center or wing, but I do think Patrick did have chemistry with Lindblom.

@ NC Flyers fan, I think that is more of Linblom just plays the game the right way. He is always hovering around the net, strong on the boards, smart player. Not that he'd be a bad fit though. Patty Lindblom and Jake is an intriguing line.

You are right about that...I really like Lindblom’s game. He looked good with G, Coots and Laughton as well, but I did think he did best with Patrick. For sure that line could work...Lindblom-Patrick-Voracek

It might be good also if we do get a young prospect added on wing for him to be with on a line with one or both of G and/or Coots. Spreading out the youth/speed.

i also think the advanced stats supported this, saying Patrick had his most success with Lindblom on his left. I would be intrigued to see a third line of Lindblom-Patrick-Konecny. I think if you have a bottom 6 of this line with a line of Raffl-Laughton-Hartman, it could show you what the team would look like being able to roll four lines.

You would have to plug in pieces for a 1LW/RW (depending where G would play, centered by Coots) , or if you continue with a line of JVR-Coots-G, then you would still need a 2C and 2LW to play with Jake. a 2LW may be easier to find than a first liner wing, cheaper also.

Additionally, I think this is exactly what the flyers should be going after in the offseason. 2 forwards and a vet dman.

I remember where I was for that Boston game. My wife was having a baby shower for our first child, so I was with the men at the bar to watch the game. I remember all of us being deflated as the Bruins took a 3-0 lead. After the first Flyers goal, the feeling was "ok, at least they're not shut out". After the second, "hey, they can get back in this." After the third "holy s**t, they're doing it.". Then the Gange goal the entire bar erupted with cheering and high fiving. Never felt anything like it at a bar watching any game. It was electric for hours afterward. One of my favorite Flyers memories.

You'd think the results of that epic comeback against Boston would have left the Bruins franchise in shambles. Not so much. Cup the next year, and perennial contenders since.

Meanwhile the Flyers have gone in the poopter.

Not only came back....but such a wierd playoff year that we were the 7th seed and had home ice in the conference FINAL.

That is crazy.

It's always interesting to see how everything needs to fall in order to advance. You need to stay somewhat healthy. Have scoring depth so when your top players aren't producing you can still win. Strong goalie play. Strong team D. Win games on the road. Get home ice for a series. A sweep or 5 game series win always helps so you can get some rest. Greatest time of the year. Unfortunately, ours was 9 years ago...

Quite possibly the only game I watched at home where I was legit sweating. I'm not an emotional guy, but I felt everyone one of them during game 7.

There was no chance I watched that out at a bar, i watched in my my own living room with my own bottle of Jack and the volume way up.

If they won, I had a handle of jack

If they lost......i had a handle of jack

I was just about to give my credit card to the server when JVR scored. Instead I ordered a dozen suicide and a tall Bud Light ('cause I watch my calories and I don't like corn syrup). At the end, I was whooping it up as the B's fans were leaving.

Why are people so enamored with a raffle- Laughton - Hartman line?

Yeah, and the other three teams in NHL history to have come back from 3-0 down in a series all won the Cup sooner or later. Toronto in 1942 won the Cup with the comeback (in the SCF). The Islanders did it in 1975 and won their first Cup 5 years later with a lot of the same players. The Kings in 2014 won the Cup that year.

Just because they should not be any higher than a 4th line...

If we had to include one or more of them in a trade package, there are some interesting FAs out there.

We haven't talked about him much, but Cedric Paquett (sp?) [RFA?] from TBL would be an interesting option for the bottom 6.

I wouldn't say I am enamored. But as a 4th line with 2 first round picks and a savvy vet that is pretty cap friendly you could do worse. All three of whom are capable of scoring 10-15 goals.

I sure hope Hartman picks up the physicality a bit more.
